Professor Abdulilah Ece

Abdulilah Ece picDr. Ece is an Associate Professor of Chemistry. He obtained his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees from Hacettepe University. He earned his Ph.D. from the same institution where he focused on computer-aided drug design studies. Dr. Ece has a broad background in organic, computational and medicinal Chemistry, with specific training and expertise in computer-aided drug design tools. He moved to Biruni University, İstanbul in 2014 where he built his research group (Ece Research) and established an early to mid-stage in silico drug discovery laboratory, computer-aided drug design center, encompassing both ligand and structure-based design. Supported by the leading software companies in the field and in collaboration with national/international researchers, Ece Research uses effective and specialized computational tools to address a particular problem or to enlighten an experimental finding in medicinal, organic or pharmaceutical chemistry. Dr. Ece received two successive awards from Trinity College Dublin in 2017 and 2018. He organizes symposiums and hands-on training courses on Computer-Aided Drug Design. Before being appointed as a senior editorial board member, Dr. Ece served as associate editor for BMC Chemistry.
